The "Backbone in the Flames of War: Architectural Light in the Rear Area - Themed Exhibition Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War", jointly hosted by Southeast University and the Yibin Cuiping District People's Government, will be grandly unveiled on September 13, 2025, in Lizhuang Ancient Town, Cuiping District, Yibin City, Sichuan Province. The 3rd Forum on Modern Architectural History and Theory, titled "Construction and War", hosted by the Southeast University School of Architecture and the Lizhuang Ancient Town Scenic Area Management Committee, will also be held concurrently.
主题展览面向社会公众，针对抗战大后方建筑活动，挖掘并呈现中国建筑教育工作者、建筑师与工程师在战火中坚守文化传承与专业探索，揭示“文化抗战”与“工程救国”深层内涵，意在透析现象、审思历史并筹谋未来。李庄作为抗战时期教育与研究机构内迁重镇，承载学术薪火，是展览选址的象征性意义所在。
The themed exhibition, open to the public, focuses on architectural activities in the rear area during the War of Resistance. It excavates and presents how Chinese architectural educators, architects, and engineers upheld cultural inheritance and professional exploration amidst the flames of war, revealing the deeper connotations of "Cultural Resistance" and "Engineering for National Salvation". It aims to analyze phenomena, reflect on history, and plan for the future. Lizhuang, as a key hub for the inland relocation of educational and research institutions during the War of Resistance, carried the torch of academia, which is the symbolic significance of the exhibition's location.
学术会议以“建造与战争”为主题，基于文化遗产的现实意义视角，深入探讨近现代建筑与战争之间的复杂关联，回溯中国建筑工程界人士如何深陷困境却能以智慧寻求生机并坚持专业理想，从而对战时建设与战后重建、建筑史学与遗产保护及建筑教育传承产生深远影响。会议不仅试图梳理抗战建筑史，更是一场关于文明韧性的对话。
The academic conference, under the theme "Construction and War", delves into the complex relationship between modern architecture and war from the perspective of the practical significance of cultural heritage. It traces how Chinese architectural and engineering professionals, despite severe hardships, sought opportunities with wisdom and adhered to their professional ideals, thereby profoundly influencing wartime construction, post-war reconstruction, architectural historiography, heritage conservation, and the inheritance of architectural education. The conference not only attempts to systematize the history of wartime architecture but also serves as a dialogue on the resilience of civilization.
